Los merengues se encuentran en la quinta posición, con 24 unidades, y han tomado un nuevo aire luego de atravesar una mala racha que los sacó por algunas jornadas de los puestos de clasificación a las finales.La USAC esta urgida de triunfos, ya que se encuentra en la novena posición con 16 puntos, y si piensa aún en entrar a la fase final, una victoria ante los albos sería trascendental, sobre todo en el aspecto sicológico.Los otros dos encuentros que complementan la jornada 17 son Heredia, que recibirá en su estadio a Marquense a las 12 horas; mientras que Municipal cerrará la jornada a las 16 horas, en el estadio Mateo Flores, cuando reciba a un poderoso equipo de Juventud Retalteca, que se encuentra en al tercera posición.
